2024, Canva — Redesign of the Canva Editor
We introduced a refreshed light-themed Editor with floating panels and toolbars to let give users more space to design and let their content shine.
With clearer guidelines around surface usage, we helped teams scale features and contribute to the Editor.
As Canva scaled the Editor experience had become increasingly complex. Users struggled with discoverability, inconsistent navigation patterns and limited space to work. Internally a lack of clarity around surface roles made it harder for teams to contribute. We set out to rethink the architecture to support long-term growth, streamline the experience, and create clear, scalable foundations for the Canva editor.
